Grow Gardens Nursery is now owned and operated
by
Carol and Clark Mitchel who recently bought it
from the Bassignani Family. The nursery has been in
business since 1952 and we are working hard to give
it new life.

We have a variety of ornamental and edible plants,
fruit trees, and camellias. At Grow Gardens we
support many types of gardening philosophies and
want to help you make the most of your outdoor
and indoor spaces.

Our philosophy is: Planting: for health, the Earth,
and yourself
. Gardening gives you a chance to
exercise while providing food and making the space
around you beautiful. Gardening creates healthy
environments for birds, bees, butterflies and many
other creatures to grow and thrive.

Garden Advice
Viburnum opulus 'Roseum'
"Snowball Bush"

Beautiful deciduous shrub that
reaches 8-15 feet tall and wide.
Produces 2-2½² across white
snowball-like flowers in
mid-spring. Nice autumn foliage
color also. Will grow well in full
sun or part shade. Moderate
watering. Very pretty informal
hedge or as a springtime focal point.

We have a good selection of 5
gallon plants, just coming into
bloom!

MAY!
What to do in your Sonoma County
garden in
May.
Set out container-grown, summer-blooming
annuals and perennials.

When the weather warms, plant tomatoes,
peppers, and other summer vegetable, but
watch out for any chance of a late frost!

Sow seeds of beans, corn, cucumbers, and
squash once the soil is warmed up.

Thin fruit on fruit trees when it is dime sized
in order to produce larger fruit and to cut
down on codling moth infestations.

Summer flowers such as marigolds,
cosmos, and zinnias can be sown from seed
now.
Rhododendrons an azaleas can be fed right
after they finish blooming.
